How To Look Like A Runway Model

MODEL MOMENT

It's not enough to just dress like a model, you need to match the makeup to turn heads. We've recreated four of our fave model makeup looks.

Fresh & Flawless Princess

We’re all too familiar with the #NoMakeup look, which runway models always seem to effortlessly nail. But instead of lamenting our not-so-fortunate skin condition, it’s time to do something! We recommend to stick to a 50-50 rule. 50% makeup and 50% skincare. Picking the right foundation is also important. Choose one that has hydrating benefits that will give you an all-rounded luminous glow like the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF15.You may also use your foundation as a concealer, then finish with a highlighter across your cheekbones and a hint of color on your lips.

Models spend most of their days with makeup on their faces, so it makes sense that they’re going to have a rest on their rest days - especially the eyes. We know that many of us cannot imagine leaving the house without any eyeliner, but there’s the good news. You can still define your eyes and look fresh with mascara - loads and loads of mascara. Yes, we mean spidery lashes! With a volumising mascara like Elizabeth Arden’s Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascara. Go slow and apply from root to tip at least 4 times for maximum lash wattage. TIP! Only apply a new layer of mascara when the first coast has completely fried - this prevents the lashes from clumping.

Dark Night Deep, dark and uber dark lips seem to be this year’s latest trend obsession and we can’t agree more. No longer just for the rebellious goth chicks, but dark coloured lips have been given a seductive and modern update that can be easily carried off (if you abide by the rules). Try experimenting with colours from berry-hued plum wine stains to an oxblood shade (which is universally fitting on all skin tones). With dark lipsticks, always prep your lips first by carefully lining your lips (to prevents bleeding) before applying the colour from the centre outwards.

Natural Girl-Next-Door It’s all about using soft makeup colors to achieve a healthy sun-kissed glow and that innocent doll-like look. Up the pretty factor by investing in shimmer makeup! However, balance is key. Avoid over applying, that would results in a Saturday Night Fever look. Opt for colors like champagne, pale gold or deep rose. Subtly work them onto your lids, cheeks and lips. For your eyes, try NARS Eye Paint, Iskandar or NARS Shimmer Eyeshadow, Gold Finger. For your lips, go for M.A.C Lustre Lipstick, Hug Me or Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural, Coral Confident. TIP! Start slow. You can build up the shimmer makeup and intensity as you go along. Don’t get all excited and apply too much in the beginning.
