Red and gold are traditionally considered to be the main auspicious color for Chinese New year. But not all of us want to look like a walking God of Fortune (aka Money God).
If red isn’t your color or you’ve purchased a non-red outfit we’ve got some subtle ways for you to rock the season auspiciously and without compromising on your individual style.

Golden Eyes Try this trick if you’re not that savvy with applying gold eyeshadow. Line your gold eyeliner at the top and bottom lash line, and the inner corners of your eyes. Use your black eyeliner to define your eyes. Finish off the look with your favourite red lipstick.
Don’t stop there. For those daring individuals can take some cosmetic gold glitter and add it onto the centre of your lids for that extra glam.

Golden Red Lips Talk about fusion. What we’re trying to do is to give the illusion of plump and juicy lips. Dab a bit of gold eyeshadow on the centre of your red lips. Keep your eyes simple with a cat eye look and neutral eyeshadow.

Rockin’ Red Lips Red lipstick is easier said than done. You have to start with the daunting task of looking for the correct shade of red that compliments you followed by trying to master the look.
For novices, we suggest getting a lip liner that matches your red lipstick to help you color within the lines.

For the experts, be brave and adventurous. Try on a red smokey eye look or a pink smokey eye look instead if red is too loud. Remember to not over-do your red eyeshadow in case you end up looking like you have an eye infection.
